Top Rated Robot Vacuums
A robot vacuum will keep floors clean enough to reduce the frequency with which you have to manually vacuum. Find one that has good navigation, can sweep corners and stairs and also has a large dust bin that has to be emptied only once in a while.
There are models that mop and charge themselves this is an option that is essential for families with pets or children. A lot of the top performers in our tests have good obstacle avoidance.
1. Roomba iRobot i3+ from iRobot EVO

The i3+ EVO is identical to its sibling, the i3 EVO. They differ only in the fact that the i3+ has self-emptying capabilities. The i3+ is a great option for those looking for a a fully automated, hands-off cleaning experience, but want to manually empty the robot's dustbin once it gets full.
Both robots are adept in removing dirt and dust particles on carpets and hard floors and can maneuver around furniture and other obstacles. iAdapt navigation software creates smart maps of your home, which help the i3+ EVO to navigate and clean in a manner that maximizes efficiency. However unlike the i7+ and other top-rated robots we test the i3+ does not have obstacle-avoidance capabilities which means it can get stuck on things like socks or power cords and it can have difficulty in navigating through transitions between surfaces like hardwood to carpet.
iRobot recommends clearing areas that the i3+ EVO will vacuum prior to when you use it, including getting rid of any toys or clutter it may encounter. You should also keep the filters and dust bin clear to avoid getting blocked. When the i3+'s internal bin is full or the battery is empty, it returns to its docking station, automatically empties its trash into the station's external dustbin, and then continues cleaning where it left off. Battery life is about an hour and a half of constant usage. It takes three hours to fully charge.
2. Roomba from iRobot
The iRobot Roomba i7+ is the most powerful model of the flagship line from iRobot and comes with all the latest features. It's self-charging and self-navigating. the most crucial feature of all -- it has an auto-emptying dustbin, which eliminates one of the main sources of maintenance for any robot vac uum.
The Roomba i7+ can remember up to 10 floor plans and their names thanks to Imprint Smart Mapping, an application that allows it to map rooms so it can clean them more efficiently. It also works with iRobot Home to schedule cleaning jobs, and you can direct your robot using the app or via voice.
In our tests the i7+ was faster and more maneuverable than our runner-up and the eufy RoboVac G30, and it took large pieces of pet hair from all surface kinds, including carpeting. Its main advantage over the eufy it self-empties its dust bin that eliminates a major source of maintenance and lowers the amount of time spent cleaning.
We were also impressed by the i7+'s compatibility with Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant AI services. We utilized these services to instruct the robot to begin, stop, or pause cleaning sessions and also to move around the room, and even vacuum a specific area. The iRobot Home App made it easy to connect the i7+ to these services. After being connected, to voice commands to the i7+, such as "Hey Alexa vacuum the master bedroom." The iRobot Home app also provides options to manage the i7+'s settings and monitoring its performance.
3. Dyson Cyclone V10
In a world of cordless vacs that are like minivans and buses, this small Dyson model feels like a sports car. It's powerful enough to replace a stand-up vacuum in most homes, but it is also compact enough to fit on a bookcase or coffee table.
The V10 is powered with a Lithium-ion battery with 7 cells of energy that produces power that is not fading for 60 minutes. Its advanced whole-machine filtration system traps allergens and releases clean air back into your home. The specialized head uses rigid nylon bristles to penetrate into carpets and pick up large crumbs or fine dust. It has three suction modes to match the task being performed. It is able to swiftly switch from handheld to floor vacuum and vice versa.
This model has an attached dock that charges the Dyson to 100% within 3.5 hours. It also gives the ability to connect two attachments and a Wand. This is a significant improvement over earlier Dysons that require a lengthy charge and are difficult to store.
The biggest issue with the V10 is its short run time. As CR's tests have shown, its claims to run up to 60 minutes are misleading. This is a typical not an extraordinary time to run the battery-powered cordless vacuum. This is still enough to vacuum the majority of a typical-sized home, but not quite long enough to cover every spot (though the second time around usually will suffice). This model has its own advantages however: it's lighter and more maneuverable than earlier Dysons cordless models and its ability to vacuum is significantly better on carpets with low pile.
4. iRobot Roomba 694"
One of iRobot's most popular robot vacuums, the 694 is an entry-level model that's a good choice for people who don't want to spend too much on a robotic. It's capable of sucking up a variety of kinds of debris in our tests, and it often passes over the same areas many times to get a really thorough clean. Its flat front end helps to get into corners and along the edges of walls and walls, which is a nice touch.
Its navigation system is smart and uses iAdapt technology to avoid obstacles and navigate your home. However, it isn't equipped with the ability to map that is found in more advanced models, such as our top picks, the i3+EVO and the j7+ Series. Because of this, it may get stuck on things like phone cords or furniture that isn't as sturdy, and often runs out of battery power before returning to its base.
The Xiaomi Mi robot is superior in many ways over the Roomba 694 in that it has fewer components that require regular cleaning, is equipped with an allergen-trapping HEPA filtering system, has a lower cost of recurring costs, has more advanced automation capabilities and is able to better navigate itself. It also has a larger dustbin and can charge faster.
The elegant RoboVac X8 is superior to the Roomba 694 for a variety of reasons, since it has a better battery life, has the ability to alter its suction power mode on its own and comes with physical boundary strips, and is controlled by your smartphone's voice assistant. It's also more durable, has a stronger motor, and can perform better on floors with bare or low-pile.
5. Samsung Jet Bot AI+
Samsung is a name you see on all sorts of home electronics, so it comes as no surprise that they're also one of the most reputable robotic vacuum and mop makers. Their Jet Bot AI+ is loaded with cutting-edge onboard intelligence technology to aid in navigation and obstacles avoidance.
The app offers a variety of customization options for your robotic cleaner. These include mopping levels, virtual barriers and behavior modifications docking frequency settings and much more. It's easy to understand and easy to use, just as is the case with other Samsung devices.
In our tests, the Jet Bot AI+ performed well on hard floors, and cleaned up 86% of dog hair (on carpet). However, it wasn't particularly well in avoiding larger objects, like cords and socks which was a disappointment. It's priced higher than other models that we tested, and this could be a deterrent for some shoppers.
The smart vacuum has an onboard camera that is accessible through the app. You can also create a live stream from the robot's cleaning station. This feature allows you to check in on pets or kids when you're away from home. The filter and the dustbin can be washed for a quick, painless clean-up. The Jet Bot AI+ comes with a self-emptying clean station, which helps keep the robot's bin clear and maximizes suction power.
6. Black & Decker Robot Vacuum
Black and Decker robots have been designed specifically for hard flooring. They come with a wide cleaning path as well as a large dustbin that holds twice as much debris than the competition to keep the area free of debris for the longest period of time. They also include two side sweepers that can be used to clean along edges and corners. The POWERSERIES Extreme model also comes with AutoSense technology, which can tell if it's picking up dirt on surfaces or embedded dirt and automatically adjusts the power level. It also includes a smart application that lets you browse the virtual map and manage the functions and schedules. Additionally, you can track the vacuum's battery status and then return it to its dock to charge at the push of the button. The app also allows you to customize the LED lights on the top of the vacuum with different colors, so you can clearly see the areas where it's focused or where it's gotten stuck.
The app makes it possible to manually steer the robot when needed. For example my living room rug has a darkly colored border that tends to trip up some of the other robots I've tried. However the HRV 425BL kept moving across the border without registering it as an incline. The ability to program a cleaning schedule for each week is a time-saving convenience.
